Southend | Mull Of Kintyre Lighthouse

Don't let the image deceive you, there is not a road that goes all the way to the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse for the public!

The Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse sits at the very bottom of the Mull of Kintyre and from the hills behind and above it, on a relatively clear day you can see Northern Ireland quite clearly.

The white buildings and helicopter pad sit by the cliffside, below the hills where the memorial of the Chinook Helicopter crash is located.

To get to the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse you need to travel towards Southend and continue along some 'characterful roads' before entering into a gated single track farm road. The road has passing places and some blind corners, the journey is not for the faint of heart although it is some 5 or 6 miles until the end of the public section.

When you reach the end of the public section you will need to walk several kilometres to be able to see the lighthouse, and several more to be able to go down to the site itself.
